Six years ago, the College of Business Administration initiated efforts to establish a major program in the area of commercial real estate by hiring Dr. Mark Eppli as the Bell Chair in Real Estate. The Real Estate Program has been successful, in terms of attracting students, outreach, research, and relationship building with the industry and local & regional communities. Taking the program to the next level started by the hiring of Associate Professor in Finance Dr. Anthong Pennington-Cross and Nicole Truog, Associate Director of Real Estate Programs, in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The next step in elevating the program is to develop
the Center for Real Estate (CRE) which is currently in progress.
Since its inception in 2004, the real estate major has graduated nearly 100 students with 44 having graduated in May of 2008. The real estate major empowers graduates to work in the real estate industry with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the field.

The school has a distinctive international focus and approximately half of the 450 MBA graduates are international students and over 70% of the full-time faculty is drawn from countries other than Canada. The Program in Real Estate and Infrastructure draws upon theory and practice through a combination of lectures, case studies, and guest lectures that bring students into constant contact with the industry. In the second year, all students must complete an 8-month in-depth investigation, carried out in teams, of a real estate business that results in a comprehensive strategy study presented to the firm.
