Consultant to and researcher for business and government on matters relating to real estate. Clients included federal, state, and local government authorities; business organizations; professional and trade associations; and other consultants.
Formerly President, Metro Metrics, a privately held Washington-based real estate research and consulting organization, 1970 - 1982. Clients included national and local development organizations, as well as various levels of government requiring expert testimony on valuation and consulting services.
Served as financial vice president, part-time 1961 - 1965, of chain brokerage firms, moving from eight to 13 offices. Also served as consultant to various businesses undergoing substantial expansion or consolidation.

Schmutz Memorial Award of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (AIREA), 1990, in recognition of his special contributions to the advancement of appraisal knowledge through his publications: Real Estate Investment Strategy, published in 1985 and the Real Estate Handbook, published in 1980.
George Bloom Award of the American Real Estate Urban Economics Association (AREUEA), December 1988, for outstanding contribution to the activities of the association.
The American Real Estate Society's Graaskamp for 2000 in recognition of the significant contributions to changing real estate education and research through his efforts in establishing and nurturing the Homer Hoyt Institute and the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and land economics and encouraging innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches to research and teaching.
